The 99.5: Uncharted mental territory.

Like an enigma wrapped in a riddle wrapped in chinchilla, LBM will bring you in and out of consciousness with alternating waves of outer space-like freshness and pharaonic opulence. You can think of the Paris based design firm like a renaissance man from the future, whose inspirations age timeless, yet capture and astound those in the present.

The 99.5: Uncharted mental territory.

So mkIVs never really consume my vw fantasy time. As you know I will be using a mkIV jetta for daily duties, now at first my relative disinterest in modifying my daily would seem a good thing... but the problem is that it's still a VW and I have already started collecting parts eventhough I don't even have the car yet.

I've taken some thought lately and I think I have a visual theme developing. I'm not looking to spend a lot of dough... just make a clean mkIV. I will be starting with a severe drop... unfortunately it has those ghastly 15" avus wheels and they really are awful... so something needs to happen there.

The car is "bright green pearl"... wheel colour/finish is giving me a hard time. silver looks fine... I typically have a general dislike for gunmetal/black wheels... as much as I am always compelled to spray any wheel white I think I need to fight the compulsion in this case. For some reason the best choice in my mind is a flat tan to match the leather inside.

For wheels themselves I am equally as lost. No OEM mkIV wheel is gonna look good tan. I don't wanna spend a lot of dough on rollers so proper aftermarket wheels are out of the question unless a suiting second hand deal comes up. I spent some time on finish line and saw some volvo joints I really liked... slightly rounded take on the classic mesh... 18x8s. Would need custom adapters or drilled rotors.

photoshopped on the car:

Problem is they're probably still gonna be kinda pricey as they need 18" tires and I have never seen a set in person, therefore the odds of scooping a set used is low.

As stated in my other thread 17" steels looked good in my head. IMO they look pretty damn ligit in photoshop too:
Image

For these I would grab the FoMoCo 17x7.5s and fill and redrill. Cheap and I think it looks good. I would need to be this low or very close to it but I think that can be arranged.

Exterior Styling:

Right now the car has OEM late GLI headlights and I really like them so they are staying... votex smoked side markers too. As much as I like hella smoked tails the stockers definitely look better, especially against the green. I am pretty much sold on the following... it'll clean it up just enough.

1) shaved/euro rubstrip

2) OEM stubbies
Image

3) Seidl grille (hood notch will have to be properly shaved)
Image

4) Mattig rear window thingy
Image

This will all happen at once as I want it all colour coded. No texture for this car. The only thing that I may texture is the grille... I think I want it green though.

neat. legit. semi gloss tan may be better. i think flat tan will stain with brake dust. but you are the white wheel man, so you know better than I.

shaved rub strip? :puke:

no no no no like shave the marker from my own rubstrip instead of shelling out the $$ for a 'euro' one... you should know better of me.

and ditto on the brake dust issues... I'm gonna try a semi gloss or flat clear coat... it should be able to take some scrubbing abuse and won't stain like pigment would.

and ditto ditto on the steels... I'm pretty sold on that.

Pep Boys had 235/35-18 Hankook Ventus'es (Ventii?) for roughly $140 a piece, but buy three get one free. I think the deal wa that they would have to install, which was roughly $10 a wheel. If you could get the Vulvas fitted and accross on a worn out set of tires, that may be a good way to go.

I like the Volvo's BTW

I have ghost written a few stories for Penthouse Forum.

Anybody have any fun wheel suggestions? 17s or 18s.

I can't recall a mkIV on these phaeton wheels:
