Ok styley type gurus - blank canvas (sort of).

What would you do, styling wise, with a black B5 A4?

good lord. if you would have said "I want to go _______ style" what would you do?" I would be able to express every little detail to painfully specific lengths. But to choose my favorte style and go from there...hmm.

haha balls out DTM would be ridiculous in the best sense of the word. but it would be waste of a nice car. OEM+ is always classy and definitely can be stretched out of the realm of boring now that VAG consumes bentley and lambo.

For some reason I am picturing brushed aluminum as the main accent. Roof rack rails, grille surround, mirror caps, door handles. Nice and subtle. Extend this so the lips of a multipiece wheel and we're on to something. Black and polished/chrome is too harsh and is easy to look tacky. If you want to do something chromey for rollers I would say keep the body colourcoded.

As for every project stance is key. I would go for 18s, 19s would work too and you could get a bit more ground clearance. Obviously it has to be quite low. I would go with flushed offsets and moderate stretch for a nice amount of tuck. Very classy indeed.

Before I get carried away... what's the purpose of the A4? Year 'round driver I can assume.... who will be driving it? Just you? Your wife too? Is she used to driving a low car? I'd have to change up the gameplan a bit for a moderate drop. I'd probably go ultraluxury/OEM+... like OEM navagation... these sorts of things.

i think it'sa sedan… so no roof rack rails.

I agree with ricky, something smooth and subtle.

the good news is that Benzes and Audis share the same bolt pattern. Allowing us to dip into the Brabus/AMG/Lorinser/Carlsson wheel wardrobe.

theses are around a lot, but gorgeous
Image

these are pretty dope too
ImageImage

if you do brushed lips, a black tinted clearcoat on the centers would looks pretty dope. or if you can throw a bronze candy over the car, that would be pretty sweet too.

You're probably going to want to run it on bags too.

that's all I can think of right now.
look up oettinger too. i've always loved their wheel designs.

What if I said:

I'm thinking more towards Q-ship, with some healthy performance goodies.... but the very definition of Q-ship limits the styling mods.

Think James Bond or the Transporter.

It's a year rounder, has to be pretty low key to the casual observer (ie co-workers, customers). The wife probably won't drive it much, but she's driven the C, and it's pretty low in the front with the 90mm spoiler.

Thanks for the input guys! Keep it comin'

oh shit, I am an idiot. i was thinking B6 instead of B5. doh.

The RS4s fit better than the S4 wheels in my mind. If you are looking for james bond style, the RS4s fit the bill nicely. I think it's gotta be a bit more performance oriented to be a bond car. If you are looking for a bit of a luxurious style. A8L plates could work pretty good.

or these (17" diameter)
Image

take a peek through ebay.de at audi or mercedes felgen. There are plenty of options available.

I don't think the S4 front works for this, but I could very well be wrong.

other than that, OEM HIDs, Navi, etc. are the mods to add, cool little factory touches and simple add-ons to separate yourself from every other black A4 out there.

Kinda a bit boring but clean as anything.

I have always loved the carlsson 1/6 in its different incarnations over the years. I would do a black center in a multipiece (18"+) or plain old silver for the monoblocks.
This fancy new finish is sexy too but I doubt you wanna spend the big bucks on a new set:

I have to agree with rob that the S4 bumper might be a bit much... although sometimes it can look proper. You know I have a bit of an issue with the front ends of these actually. It's not that they aren't handsome enough, but something about the grille and headlights is weird for me. Being happy with the front would be my personal challenge on one of these.

Yeah for me it's all about the front end. The S4 seems like the only good option though, RS4 sticks out too much and has the "shark gills".
There are a couple interesting add-on lower bumpers, but they're not subtle enough for me...

I think I'm gonna go for rake, so getting the front close to the ground is the key, and the stock bumper rounds back in too much too soon.

Thanks for the ideas, I'm definitley gong 18"+

Yeah, I did a deeper dive, and it turns out they're 1pc with a stainless "cover" - yuk.

I was hoping they had the Radinox lip (have you guys seen those videos?!?  )

These are actually pretty cheap IMO - $1300 ish USD - not too shab.

yeah that stuff is amazing

yee...1300US for 4 big schmidts eh... I really hope they're not going down the ever familiar and tragic track of establishing a good name of quality and exclusivity, then reducing material/build quality and introducing cheaper products.
