When I bought the champagne TD the clutch would chatter and slip just a little. But after driving it a few weeks it went away. You may have just overheated it a bit and put a glaze on the surface that had to wear off.

Smashed the pan so bad that I probably pegged the pick up against the bottom.
Instead of replacing the pan, I kept puttering around. Oil buzzer would go off above a certain RPM. I stayed below that.

Today it was cold... The oil weight is probably best for summer.
The turbo sounded funny driving out of the parking lot at work... but I kept on driving around slowly. Then... a terrible noise, and ... no more turbo spool.

I now drive a 1.9 NA diesel.

It's unreal, driving up a hill you're on the gas just to maintain the speed you were going at the base of it.

At least take the pan off and knock it down a bit. The engine can't last long like that.
I'm not sure if I have a spare k24 around anymore.. I may have sold it.

That reminds me of a certain teal Jetta running on three cylinders in the hills of Pennsylvania.

Had to drive the car today...

It now emits large, persistent and dense bluish white clouds when driving along.

A single whiff can cause you to pass out and die.

...no more tailgaters though.

Making a deal on a 2013 Jetta tomorrow (2.0L, manual). Don't want to but with the promotions going on right now, it's the right thing to do.

Moonrock Silver (goldish silver) or Reflex Silver?

I miss the goldish tinge that Randy's silver MK4 has. This Moonrock Silver is a bit more goldish than that, but also a bit less sterile than the Reflex Silver.

White is nice, but the light coloured metallics are rather good at appearing clean and hiding nicks and scratches.

The dealership I'm going to this evening is already willing to include new winter tires and steelies for free with the sale of a new vehicle.

However, I am also requesting:

$500 reduction in base price
$500 off Volkswagen Accessories (votex front lip, sideskirts, rear apron will be applied)
Free monster mats.

Will they go for it? I can understand used car pricing, but new car pricing is a bit of a toughy.

I priced out one yesterday after reading your post. The 2.0L trim is very affordable.
Asking for $500 off and $500 VA credits as well as the winter wheels might be pushing it. It's more likely that they would give you $1000 VA credits, as there would be less out of their pockets.
The 2.0L is a good choice. After owning a 2.5L, I would not buy one again.. it sounded good, but the fuel economy wasn't as good as I had expected, or was advertised. My corrado got the same fuel economy as the rabbit.
