wheels

I love this look... need to find a lathe big enough though. I think I could scotchbrite the face by jacking up the car and putting it in gear, but the outer rims are pretty beat up and could use a refinish. I also don't think the scotchbrite would get through the clearcoat.

Anyone have a huge lathe?

or the like. Those would work really well using the drive wheel lathe method once you get them raw... with the flat face and all 8)

those are nice! That's exactly the type of wheel I can see on the car. The other ones look too hard to clean

update:

I've got the tires off the phats, and just picked up some tal-strip II coating remover today. from the container: "may affect the brain or nervous system"... perfect!

I need some opinions on what to do with the wheels. I'm officially "in" - started scraping the loose clearcoat off, and used a scotchbrite pad on the air grinder a bit. I tried blasting one, but the clear is just too tough.

Once I get them clean, I think I'll get them powder coated.

Colour ideas?

Engine turned faces? Brushed aluminum face with coloured spoke sides/barrel? Beige all over?

These may be sold later if I can source some really cheap 18s, or trade for some, etc. I'll have to wait until it gets dropped but they just look really small there now.

17s are doing to be tough (read: impossible) to pull off on that big bad B5... I'd probably use them as currency to get into a large wheel.

But for the refinish I vote brushed/dark gray insets :)

I like engine turning but if the rows aren't perfectly parallel it's gonna look like a joke.
