That box only weighs about 50lbs.
It was fun driving like I had a big load.

Step 1 - buy bag of scrap leather from lens mills

Step 2 - borrow girlfriend's sewing machine

Step 3 - learn to stitch leather

Step 4 - frankenstitch material for your interior door sills

It was my first time sewing. In total, to cut and sew, 6 hours were spent getting four strips to that point.
The sewing machine is a really cheap Walmart special, not really powered well enough for leather. At least 2 of those 6 hours were spent re-spooling and detangling the thing. It was a ton of fun though. Also, it smelled great. My stitches aren't the straightest, but this is a good car to learn on. If the gluing goes well, there will be more leather wrapping in the benz this winter.

All done. Nice snug fit around the pieces. What appears like baggy areas in the pics are just curved areas on the part.

For the last 48hrs I've been toiling with the idea of packing the MK2 in it's storage area along with all the parts, out of sight out of mind, and just driving this benz all summer.

Cost of finishing the MK2 is the same as cost of Benz.
