Yoar coupe can still be that. Just use a 2.0 TDI instead of the 1.8T.

In dream land I think I'd want a 20v on ITBs, and in reality I'd like to clean up the original 52hp lump, but in actual reality I think the coupe will live on in my heart... The cost of body work, etc. that would be up to my standards would equal a pile of cash that would unlock a much more gratifying automotive experience if spent elsewhere.
