Rob,

With your overall experience would you recommend somebody buy an e43? Lately I've been seeing stick wagons pop up and it seems like a great vehicle. My concern is maintenance on an aging 100-150k km BMW...

If you mean an E46, I haven't had a problem and put in $600 for routine maintenance/year.

That said I am sure a few things are approaching the end of their service life.

Yeah, labour is the expensive part. I need to find myself a local non-dealer mechanic.

Prices are reasonable for a european car and quite available.
