Picked up a Euro trunk (ie '96 N/A market), and fenders are imminent (thanks Randy  ). Then, I have to decide how far to go with the rest of the body, ie hood, entire front bumper, etc. etc.

I want to get the fenders and trunk done so it's respectable ASAP, then the lums go on and stance tuning begins (have spacers already - yay!). I'll run with that for a bit. If there's any hope of having the Rabbit back on the road this summer / fall maybe I'll take it down for a while to respray the whole thing..... :?:

Yay for progress! Now, when I start it, the screen in the dash says "OK" before changing to the radio info. It gives me a great feeling of comfort that the 30 valves and 2 turbos hiding *somewhere* in the bowels of the car are doing just fine.

Scored 2 proper fenders from Chopshop today, along with a set of chrome mirrors for 2 bills. At first I was skeptical of the mirrors, and wasn't looking for any. After getting them, they're actually pretty good quality, and the best part? They're not just housings they're the complete mirror assembly, heated and auto dimming. Not even any corrosion on the glass - the drivers side is better than the one on the S. Highfive!

I know at least the immediate seller came by it honestly...

Side note: I was at club chopshop HQ. 4 cars in there, including a big turbo GLI in the midst of a bay shave, and a Civic with JDM stuff including oem parking stick thingy with the led on the end.

Forgot to report: last Saturday I disemboweled the interior to get the wood dash trim out in preparation for swappage. It still amazes me that the armrest and rear ash tray must be removed in order to take out some trim on the dash. Oh well.... :?

In very un-Dave-like fashion I completed the task and it's all back together including making the ashtray functional, and cleaning the climate control unit from the inside out! (there's a little fan in there that pulls air over the sensor for thermo control, and it was duurty).
